Welcome from Matthew Partington, Headteacher

I very much hope that this website will give you a flavour of our amazing school.

Everything we do is geared towards ensuring that our fantastic students become well-rounded and confident young adults. The exceptional range of extra-curricular opportunities, state-of-the-art facilities, alongside warm relationships and the highest possible standards of behaviour and uniform, go some way to explaining why we are one of the most oversubscribed schools in the region. As Ofsted noted ‘Roundhay is all about its students. Staff ensure that each one, regardless of background or ability, is given every opportunity to shine’.

We acknowledge that our very strong reputation is hard won and easily lost, but know that Roundhay School is a wonderful place with unlimited potential. This is why our talented team of staff work incredibly hard to do ‘whatever it takes’ to ensure that no Roundhay student is ever left behind. We are a school that is determined to avoid any hint of complacency and, even though examination results are excellent, we are always looking to improve further. Last year over 75% of all Year 11 students gained A* to C in both English and Maths, with 46% of students gaining at least one A*to A grade, including 39 pupils with seven or more A* to A grades. 61% of our Year 13 students achieved at least one A* to B grade, or equivalent, with 25% gaining at least one A* to A or equivalent. The vast majority of our Year 13 students progressed successfully to university, college, apprenticeships, employment and GAP years. Click here for a more detailed look at the attainment and progress of our pupils.

The school has achieved so much in terms of its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement and Investors in People Gold award but we are always learning and never stop trying to make our best better.

I feel proud and privileged to be part of ‘Team Roundhay’ and to lead such a rich, vibrant community of learners, which strives every day to live by its motto of ‘Courtesy, Cooperation and Commitment’.

Do not take my word for it, come and see why at Roundhay School every day is remarkable.

With best wishes,

Matthew Partington
