Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

Since 1903, Roundhay School has sat proudly at the heart of its community, growing into one of the country’s largest, most diverse and oversubscribed schools.

We are an All-Through School serving children and young people aged 4 to 18.  Our core ambition is to do “whatever it takes” to provide an exceptional education for all. Every Roundhay pupil is offered rich and varied cultural experiences, academic excellence and a successful future.

Our results are above national averages across all key stages, and we have received national awards and recognition, including the World Class Schools accreditation and Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ status. But we refuse ever to stand still. Instead, we work tirelessly to improve and ensure no pupil is ever left behind.

Our warm relationships and calm, friendly interactions define life at Roundhay. Visitors often comment on this atmosphere and notice how we look after each other. We set incredibly high standards and expect our pupils to behave impeccably. We teach old-fashioned values of good manners, kindness and respect, and insist pupils proudly wear our uniform. We do this so our pupils are safe, happy and enjoy their time with us.

Our school values are more than empty words. They drive every action, inform every decision and shape every interaction, every single day. We are all about our pupils. Every effort goes into building their character and love of learning, guided through our rich curriculum. We strive for our pupils to become ‘Recognisably Roundhay’. That is, positively contributing to school life and society, continuing to learn and develop for the rest of their lives.

This really does not happen everywhere. But do not take my word for it – come and see why Roundhay School is such an amazing place to work and learn, where every day is remarkable.
