
Realise your Potential
This programme, for disadvantaged students and those underrepresented in higher education, brings together contextual offer schemes, visits from universities and practical support with things like UCAS applications, student finance and arranging open-day travel. So far this year students have had sessions with the University of Leeds’ Access to Leeds scheme and the University of York’s Black Access programme. We have also teamed up with the University of Leeds’ School of Engineering to deliver a STEM outreach project for disadvantaged students and those underrepresented in the industry.
Contextual offer schemes help widen participation at universities and help students from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds get access to higher education. These schemes take a range of factors into account- post code, secondary school performance, social and economic background, whether parents have attended university and ethnicity.
