These appointments give students the opportunity to speak one to one with a careers specialist about future plans, explore options after sixth form, and come away with a detailed action plan.
Lloyds Banking Group Assessment Centre Training | Spring term Year 12
We are extremely lucky that each year, members of the Mass Affluent team from Lloyds Banking Group travel from all over the country to deliver an Assessment Centre Training Day for our Sixth Form students within school. This event is extremely popular and we look forward to it each year! Our students are put through their paces during a challenging, simulation assessment day, giving them the opportunity to experience first-hand the realities of recruitment. The full schedule includes group tasks, written assessments, presentations and an interview, and students receive detailed feedback on their performance throughout the day from their Lloyds Banking Group mentor.
Work Experience | July Year 12
All students are offered a week of work experience in the summer of Year 12. Due to the current pandemic this is temporarily suspended.
Y13 Employability Programme | Ongoing through Y13
For our students who are opting for an alternative route to university, which may include apprenticeships, employment, gap year, travel and volunteering, we offer a bespoke programme of support. We have time tabled lessons every 2 weeks, which are a combination of class taught sessions and 121 careers and employability guidance, to support students with their own individual plans. In the first term the focus is on ’Opportunities and Employability’
- Alternative routes to university
- Apprenticeship levels explained
- CV writing
- How to enhance your employability
- What recruiters are looking for
Insight into the World of Work | Ongoing through Sixth Form
Roundhay’s Careers, Engagement and Enrichment team have strong links with local and national employers and we have developed some fantastic opportunities for students to gain an insight into the world of work:
Taster days with PWC, Zurich and KPMG
Students are invited to spend the day at their headquarters in Leeds and experience life as an employee in their office environment, gaining an insight into the professional world and knowledge on pathways and progressions.
Careers Embedded in Our Lessons
We invite professionals from industry into the classroom; we’ve had visits from MPs to Government and Politics lessons, Cabin Crew from Jet2 in Travel and Tourism and medical researchers in our Science lessons.
Careers in Health and Social Care Evening
We invite professionals from across the medical industry to represent their different roles. From surgeons and psychologists to medical engineers and researchers this event gives students the chance to talk directly to experts, find out about roles they might never have heard of, and it is a great chance for networking too.
