Curriculum
We offer an ambitious curriculum for all students with A levels in 25 subjects and vocational courses in 7 subject areas.
Our curriculum builds on the knowledge and skills of KS4 and challenges students to prepare them for future success. In addition to their main programme of study, all students are offered the opportunity to study the Extended Project Qualification and Core Maths.
Students join us from varying starting points and must meet the academic entry requirements of each course as published in our latest prospectus. While the entry requirements for all courses include grade 4 in both Maths and English Language, we also run a resit opportunity for students who may wish to improve their grades.
Provided with high academic challenge within a very supportive environment, our students become independent learners who are responsible, resilient and ready to learn.
Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to develop employability skills and be ambitious for their future careers.
Progression is equally supported by our Enrichment programme and the range of experiences provided to develop students’ career choices. This approach allows students to develop broader skills, including character and confidence, that remain a priority throughout KS5.
Through enrichment sessions, we explore how to become successful independent learners, all in preparation for life in modern Britain and progression to university or employment.
As part of the curriculum, all Sixth Form students take part in our Community Engagement Programme, supporting a given activity within the Roundhay community, such as:
- Paired Reading Scheme
- In-Class Support
- Academic Mentoring
- Sports Leaders opportunities
- Creative Performing Arts opportunities
- Opportunities at our Primary Campus.
The final aspect of our offer is one week of work experience, offered to all Y12 students in the summer term of Y12.
