At Roundhay School, we have approximately 1250 pupils in Years 7 to 11 and approximately 450 students in our Sixth Form. To make sure we know our pupils well, each year group has a Head of Year who works with a team of form tutors. Learning mentors, teaching assistants, the Leader of Inclusion and the Assistant Headteachers of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, as well as the Deputy Headteachers, support these teams to ensure all pupils develop and make progress academically and socially.
We have a specific anti-bullying policy and our Safer Schools’ Police Liaison Officer works closely with us to support pupils, staff and parents.
We monitor attendance closely and have an attendance hot line, an attendance secretary and an attendance officer/mentor who works with pupils and parents/carers who are experiencing difficulty. Staff conduct register checks every lesson. Our attendance is currently over 96% which has been acknowledged by Ofsted as “outstanding”.
Child Protection is at the forefront of everything we do and our trained Child Protection Officers are:
Gwennan Roberts (Deputy Headteacher Behaviour, Safety & Wellbeing), Jean Clennell (Pupil Pastoral Specialist), Tina Parson (Assistant Headteacher Key Stage 3), John Mattinson (Deputy Headteacher Achievement), Rebecca Barnaby (Head of Year 13), Tim Halliwell (UCAS Manager)
