School Meals

The Dining Centre and The Study Zone

Years 7, 8 and 9 can buy food from the Dining Centre during break and lunchtime. Teaching staff are there to help you and make sure that everyone queues responsibly. Pupils from years 10 and 11 use the Study Zone, which is adjacent to the Dining Centre.

Payment

We use a cashless system at school so that when money has been paid into your account, you can pay at the tills using our biometric system. The system recognises your fingerprint and deducts money from your account. You can also pay cash into your account at special pay stations (see virtual tour). The break lasts 20 minutes from 10.25 – 10.45am.

During this time you can choose from a range of morning snacks including bagels, toast, pancakes, fruit and yoghurts. Lunch lasts 45 minutes from 12.30 – 1.15pm, which means everyone has time to refuel and get some fresh air before starting the afternoon session.

A hot meal will cost around £2.40. The menu changes each week, but here is an example of the kinds of meals you can choose from:

After listening to pupil feedback, we introduced Meat Free Mondays to support climate change initiatives. We have also extended our veggie and vegan options.

If you have brought a packed lunch from home, then you can eat it in your designated area, e.g. in the Courtyard for Year 7 students. We encourage all pupils to bring a water bottle and fill it up during the day. There is a water station in the Dining Centre which is available to everyone, as pupils want to limit single-use plastics in school.
