Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

Since 1903, Roundhay School has sat proudly at the heart of the community in which it serves. It has grown into one of the largest, most diverse and oversubscribed schools in the country.
We are an All-Through School, serving children and young people aged 4 to 18. Our core ambition is to do “whatever it takes” to provide an exceptional education, irrespective of background or circumstance. We are driven by a moral obligation to offer every single one of our pupils rich and varied cultural experiences, academic excellence and a very successful future.
We have secured impressive results that are above national averages across all key stages and received national awards and recognition including Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ status, but we refuse to ever stand still.
We are incredibly proud of our many achievements and the unique range of opportunities on offer, but we recognise that such success is hard won and easily lost. We are never complacent and will always work tirelessly to continue our improvement journey and ensure that no Roundhay pupil is ever left behind.
Our warm relationships and calm, friendly interactions define us; these are frequently commented on by visitors to the school. We look after each other and this is visible at every turn. We also know how much our pupils benefit from incredibly high standards and expectations, and we expect our pupils to behave impeccably. This is why we teach old-fashioned values of good manners, kindness and respect, insisting that our uniform is always worn with pride. We do this so our pupils are safe, happy and enjoy their time with us.
Our mission statement is so much more than a set of empty words. It genuinely drives every action, informs every decision and shapes every interaction, every single day. We are all about our pupils. We work hard to build character whilst allowing our pupils to develop a love of learning and master the rich knowledge of our curriculum. Everything we do is carefully planned to ensure our pupils become 'Recognisably Roundhay’, so they can make a positive contribution to school life and society, continuing to learn and develop for the rest of their lives.
This really does not happen everywhere. Please do not take my word for it, come and see for yourselves why Roundhay School is such an amazing place to work and learn, and why every day is remarkable.
