Safeguarding

We place safeguarding at the heart of everything we do at Roundhay School.  We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we work hard to maintain a ‘Culture of Vigilance’ through appropriate formal training from Leeds Local Authority as well as regular ‘in-house’ training and updates to ensure that keeping our children safe is our staff members’ highest priority.

We support our children’s understanding of keeping safe through our Core Values and through our bespoke Personal Development curriculum, ensuring that they learn about strategies to keep themselves safe as well as the risks to be aware of in the modern world.

In addition to our Personal Development curriculum, we use themed days or weeks to raise the profile of spotlight issues, including Anti-Bullying Week, Safer Internet Day and the NSPCC’s Speak Out, Stay Safe programme.  Through regular revisiting of themes and issues, we aim for our children to develop the appropriate strategies to keep themselves throughout their time at the Primary Campus and beyond.

Please see our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy for the 2022-23 academic year below.

Mr D Mitchell is the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Primary Campus.  Should you have any concerns or queries about safeguarding Mr Mitchell and can be contacted on 0113 518 2030 or primary@roundhayschool.com
