Art & Design

Art is a popular and important part of our curriculum.  Each half term, children have four art lessons where they practise and develop different artistic skills such as sketching, sculpting and painting.  We work with a professional artist to develop bespoke teaching sequences linked to the half term’s core text and core value.  For example, children learn about a range of different artists from different backgrounds and cultures during Spring 2’s core value of ‘We Celebrate Diversity’. These teaching sequences plan backwards from an intended outcome so that children can master each stage of the composition.  Teachers and children are rightly proud of the fantastic outcomes they achieve, which adorn the walls of our halls and corridors, and are celebrated in our art gallery.
