Outward Bound trip

During the Easter Holidays, 12 Roundhay students were given the opportunity funded by Evans Property Group for The Leeds Initiative along with two other schools, along with Miss Deane and Mr Temple for a fantastic week in the Lake District visiting the Outward Bound Centre in Howtown. The aim of the week was to broaden horizons and maintain positive mindsets by working in mixed groups with other pupils they didn't know from schools from different parts of Leeds, completing testing activities and showing them they are capable of so much more than they believe. We climbed gauges, jumped in Ullswater lake, canoed, crawled through a pitch-black damp tunneling system, scrambled mountains and even completed a 2 day expedition camping at the top of a fell (some in snow!), with Miss Deane's group motivating each other with the motto "There's no 'I' in SQUAD GOALS!" and singing their favourite songs as they climbed. By the end of the week, we had a few burnt noses and the students were all incredibly tired but incredibly proud of themselves and eager to see each other again and take their new found perseverance and resilience into their everyday lives.
