Roundhay School is a vibrant and highly successful comprehensive school which reflects the truly cosmopolitan nature of Leeds. We are delighted to have been judged as being Outstanding overall and even more thrilled that Ofsted inspectors felt ‘ Roundhay School is all about its students’, where ‘ Students make rapid progress and academic standards are high,’ and ‘Staff ensure that each one, regardless of background or ability, is given every opportunity to shine.’ We pride ourselves on a team approach and relationships between students and staff are extremely good. As a result ‘Students’ personal development is exceptional and behaviour is exemplary.’ Our Primary provision, housed on a nearby purpose-built campus, was also judged to be outstanding alongside all other aspects of the school, including the Sixth Form. We are now one of the biggest schools in the country and are currently involved in an exciting development phase working alongside Leeds City Council as we look to develop our facilities at the Secondary Campus.
We are fortunate to have committed staff as well as pro-active support from parents, of whom 99% would recommend us to other parents. All of this has helped to make us the most popular school in Leeds for over a decade, but this is something we never take for granted. Certainly, our governors would never let us ‘take our eye off the ball’ and themselves were judged as being ‘extremely well informed and very clear about their roles and responsibilities’ (Ofsted).
We are also proud to be a National Support School, a National College Pupil Premium Review centre and are assisting other schools in the city and region through the sharing of good practice. As a development of this role, we continue to be a strategic partner with the inter-local-authority, the Red Kite Teaching School Alliance.
