Communication and Interaction

Children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) have difficulty communicating with others. This may be because they have difficulty saying what they want to, understanding what is being said to them, or they do not understand or use social rules of communication. The profile of every child with SLCN is different and their needs may change over time. They may have difficulty with one, some, or all of the different aspects of speech, language or social communication at different times of their lives.

Children and young people with ASD, including Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism, are likely to have particular difficulties with social interaction. They may also experience difficulties with language, communication and imagination, which can impact how they relate to others.

Congratulations to our wonderful Y13 students! We are delighted to celebrate the destinations they have secured with their A level and Vocational results.

The Class of 2026 reflect a diverse range of interests, ambitions and course choices. They will begin exciting apprenticeships with global employers such as KPMG and roles including a Level 7 Apprenticeship in Accounting and our first apprenticeships in Environmental Consulting/Flood Risk Management and Autocare.

Our students will be taking up university courses across the UK from St Andrews and Glasgow to Imperial College London, Cambridge and Bath. Closer to home, also proving popular this year, are Durham, Sheffield, Liverpool and Newcastle. With eight students securing places to study medicine, healthcare was again a favourite destination alongside courses in Radiography, Sonography and Optometry. Other exciting courses this year were Archaeology, Astrophysics and Contemporary Military and International History.

We are so proud of their individual success, testament to their sheer hard work along with the support of families and the teaching from our expert staff.

Roundhay represents a Sixth Form of all abilities who study a wide range of courses and we are delighted to recognise success at all levels across the curriculum. This year we were especially pleased that 30% of our A level entries were at the highest grades of A*/A and over 40 students achieved at least 3 A's at A Level.

Congratulations to everyone, we hope you enjoy celebrating your success and wish you all the very best for the future.
