GCSE Success! Excellent Results for Year 11
Roundhay School celebrated another year of excellent GCSE and BTEC results. These are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.
There has been national drop in GCSE passes across a range of subjects and new, tougher exams sat for the first time in England. Despite this, Roundhay school has bucked this trend with our students performing above national averages across core subjects. An impressive 79% of our students achieved a Level 4 (grade C equivalent) and above in both Maths and English.
Traditional A* – U grades have been replaced with a numbering system from 1 to 9 for English and Maths exams. 9 is the highest grade pupils can achieve in the new GCSEs and 1 is the lowest. We are very pleased to say that more students at Roundhay achieved more Level 7 to 9 grades (equivalent to A* and ) than the national average!
Mr Partington, Headteacher, said "I am absolutely delighted to see our students rewarded with these amazing results. We are incredibly proud of all of them. It is great to see strong performances across all subjects, including English, Maths and Science. I'm also really pleased for our talented staff who have literally done 'whatever it takes' to give our students the very best opportunity for success."
Mrs Bowman, Deputy Headteacher, said: “I am very pleased with the results this summer, especially set against a backdrop of uncertainty with new examinations.
"Everyone has worked extremely hard to produce yet another set of very successful GCSE results, which will enable the students to move on to the next stage of their education.
"It was wonderful to see so many students with so much to celebrate."
