An Excellent Week of Roundhay Radio
What an amazing week, Roundhay Radio was back with the theme of Build, pupils and staff again worked incredibly hard to build the studio, create programmes, find guests and to produce a weeks’ worth of excellent content on the theme of Build.
We were joined by four of our local Primary Schools, Gledhow Primary, Roundhay St Johns, Talbot Primary and Moor Allerton Hall who produced their own hour of Radio Prime Time.
We were also joined by pupils from our own Primary Campus, who joined us live in the studio and read us horror stories and talked about ‘E.R.I.C’ their new phonics scheme.
With year 11 and Post-16 students busy studying for their exams, this years’ Radio gave way to up and coming talent from our younger year groups. The studios and production areas were a hive of activity as shows were researched and written before heading in to the studio to record for later that day. Throughout the week, students were joined by staff for a whole host of different features, including the ever popular ‘Test The Teacher’ and our daily ‘In & Out’ show.
It was great to work with our Inclusion team as they worked on “building awareness” and informing students and listeners about their conditions, and how they can be helped and supported around school. This is a feature we are looking to expand on for next year.
A huge thank you to our guests from outside of school for assisting us in creating the feel of a professional radio station. Your input was greatly appreciated, and the students really did enjoy working with you. Well done to everyone involved.
Roundhay Radio will return in Summer 2018 when our theme will be ‘Pride’ – we are all very proud of our school, our students and the community as a whole, and the aim of this theme is to showcase that pride in what we are sure will be another stellar week of live radio.
